Design

Jackie is a Registered Architect and member of the NZIA and has been practising for nearly thirty years. In addition she holds a Masters in Conservation (Historic Buildings). Jackie brings to the practice a rare combination of design experience with a thorough understanding of heritage principles, with the result that the completed scheme exemplifies the best possible design solution as well as the best current conservation practice.

There is a distinct advantage for the building owner in having the analytical approach of the conservation plan preparation and the ongoing design process under the same roof as it promotes continuity between the two stages.

Re-use Analysis

Historic buildings need to be used to remain viable. Once the original use becomes obsolete a new function must be found or the building will be lost. Jackie Gillies + Associates can carry out re-use analyses for buildings balancing possible new uses against the likely impact on their heritage values.

Feasibility Studies

The concepts, budget estimates and re-use analysis can provide valuable data for preparation of a feasibility study, either by the client or another specialist.

Consents

Our involvement in a project extends through to detailed design and implementation on site with Resource and Building Consents, including all necessary documentation and site observation.

Heritage Impact Assessments

We can also prepare Heritage Impact Assessments to evaluate the impact of a potential design (whether this is by our practice or another) on the heritage values of a historic building and provide ongoing advice regarding heritage matters throughout a project.
