Heritage Consultancy

We provide a comprehensive heritage consultancy service. This encompasses a wide range of tasks and projects, which include, among others: the provision of strategic planning advice relating to heritage sites; the preparation of design guidelines for town centres, larger developments or District Plans; establishing and defining Conservation Areas; the preparation of thematic heritage studies; and making recommendations regarding the registration or listing of heritage items. We have also been involved in the preparation of local heritage strategies. The items listed below give more details on some of these, however our heritage consultancy role is not limited to these areas alone and we area available to offer advice and support on all aspects of heritage and/or conservation.

Strategic Planning

Jackie Gillies + Associates can assist owners, developers, planners and government agencies in devising effective conservation and promotion strategies for heritage sites.

Design Guidelines

Jackie Gillies is co-author of the QLDC Design Guidelines for Queenstown Town Centre. In addition to urban area guidelines such as these, we can offer design guideline services for large scale developments within both rural and urban settings, existing rural areas, District Plans etc.

Conservation Areas

Our firm is available to research, identify and delineate heritage, landscape or townscape conservation areas within any rural or urban context.

Thematic Studies

Eimear O’Connell has carried out extensive thematic and regional heritage studies. This might include the survey and assessment of heritage items by region, area or type.

Registration

We are available to carry out studies leading to a list of important heritage features for scheduling in local District Plans or Registration by NZHPT.
